The Leinster Juvenile Relays took place last weekend in Nenagh where we had 7 teams taking part.  The boys teams had a great day out with the u13 team finishing 5th just outside the medals.  However, the boys under 14 team of Jonathan Landy, Eoin Hill, Reamon Comer, Eoin Goss and Andrew Carroll had a brilliant run to win the bronze medals.  The u16 boys looked very strong when they went one better to win the silver medals in a very fast time.  That team was Ciaran O'Shaughnessey, Alan Carroll, Ikenna Ezeugo and Danny Cahill.

These two boys team have now qualified for the nationals later in March.   Well Done!

The girls teams were not as successful but they did have great runs and got lots of experience for the next time.  We were represented by the u13, u14, u15 and u18 teams.  The girls u18 team qualified for the final but unfortunately were unable to start as one of their members got injured.   Well done to everyone!

Celbridge AC had its first National winner for 2012 when Vivian Fleischer competed in the girls u18 Combined Events in Nenagh last weekend.  The combined events is a competition where the athlete competes in 5 events, the 60m hurdles, shot, high jump, long jump and 800m and points are given for each event and added together to produce an overall score.  Vivian had a fantastic day and got 3 personal bests and came away the National Champion.  Vivian worked very hard throughout the year for this and it paid off.  This was a remarkable achievement as this was also Vivian's first National Medal, the first of many we hope!  Congratulations Vivian!

The first competition of the season kicked off with the National Masters Indoor Championships in Nenagh on Sunday last.  There was a very high level of competition this year with athletes competing from all corners of Ireland.

Lant Carroll competing in M4 60m and 200m had two great races to win bronze medals in both in very fast times. Kieron Stout competing in M2 shot putt threw12.64m to win the silver medal.  Paula Reilly ran a very fast 60m to win silver in the W2 catagory in 8.95 sec.  Paula also competed in the 200m and was unlucky to be given 4th place in a blanket finish where 3 athletes crossed the line together. Her time of 30.77 would have won the event last year!  Finola Moore competed in the W3 High jump and Long Jump and took silver in both with a PB of 1.25m in the high jump.  She also took the bronze medal in the 200m in a PB time of 34.34.  Deirdre Sheehy was unlucky to finish 4th in the W3 60m and long jump.

Next outing for the masters is the leinster championships which will be held same day as the juvenile relays on 28th Jan.
