Celbridge Athletic Club was founded by Eamonn O'Keefe, a former International Athlete himself, in response to a need in Celbridge for some form of athletic coaching. He had about twenty athletes who he trained exclusively and who did very well. In the past 12 years the club has gone from strength to strength both in terms of the number of participating athletes, their success in National terms and International and the quality of coaching. In 1992 the club had about 30 athletes today it boasts over 140 active participants plus over twenty senior and masters (of all trades!!). In 1992, we had one qualified coach. Today we have 2 level two coaches, 3 level 1, four 4leader levels and three intending to do the next course. The club is run by a Management Committee of a Chairman, Deputy Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Development Officer and a Child Protection Officer, Fund Raiser, PRO, Senior Rep and coaches rep. It operates a system of sub committees who report back to the management committee. The Fees for the year 2009 were fixed at E100 for the first child, E75 for the second and E25 for the third and subsequent child.
